About Itunu Psychological Services
The name Itunu comes from Yoruba and means comfort, solace, and reassurance. We offer intensive trauma therapy for individuals seeking focused, in-depth psychological support to address complex and longstanding difficulties. Our work is relational, recognising how life experiences, relationships, and wider systems shape wellbeing and recovery.
We also provide specialist training, supervision, and consultation to professionals and organisations. This includes reflective practice spaces, skills-based training, and organisational support to strengthen trauma-informed leadership, team wellbeing, and support the development of effective systems that are psychologically informed.
Our Founder and Clinical Lead
Itunu Psychological Services is led by Dr Hauwa Onifade, a Chartered Psychologist (C.Psychol) and Practitioner Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), specialising in trauma and complex psychological presentations.
Dr Onifade brings extensive experience in therapeutic, assessment, and supervisory work across a range of clinical and professional settings. Her practice is informed by specialist training in Schema Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing. She works integratively, drawing on these approaches in a flexible and responsive way, guided by each person’s needs, values, and circumstances.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr Onifade is an academic and has worked across several professional psychology doctoral programmes. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). This supports her understanding of learning, development, and organisational support, and informs her work with professionals and teams.
Dr Onifade is a registered supervisor with the Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors and the British Psychological Society. She offers reflective, supportive, and ethically grounded supervision, creating space for practitioners to think carefully about their work, wellbeing, and professional development.
